The Nurture Room
Our Nurture Room (known as The Butterfly Room to the children) is a very important place for some of our children. It is a sanctuary for them and a place where they are extremely well looked after and cared for by Mrs Johnson.
The children who use the room have been chosen to be supported through a number of different interventions due to concerns that have arisen in the classroom, playground or from requests from home.
The programmes are preventative measures and are designed to help children develop the skills that are necessary to enable them to access the curriculum more effectively.
The programmes of support are also aimed at making a positive impact in terms of the improvement of the children’s social, emotional skills and therefore impacting on their happiness both in and out of school.
Some children will have weekly 1:1 sessions and others will take part in group work such as:
- Time to Talk
- Emotional Literacy
- SEAL (Social, Emotional Aspects of Learning)
- Positive People
- Talkabout
Check out some of the photos of the room below. Photos of the many activities the children do and things they create in there will be posted regularly too, so do check back often!
